Michael has been happily strumming away at ceilidhs since settling in Edinburgh 15 years ago. A keen guitarist from an early age he has played music from a variety of genres but now spends his time focussed on acoustic folk guitar styles and old time 5 string banjo. He is therefore particularly interested in the history and development of transatlantic folk music. Although predominantly an instrumental teacher at present, Michael enjoys playing in a number of acoustic ensembles and draws inspiration from friends and fellow musicians from the Edinburgh session scene. He teaches both guitar and 5 string banjo for the Scots Music Group.
We’re heading north to explore the music of Orkney, Shetland & Norway at our online Day of Tunes 2 on Sat 19th June 9am-1pm. We've brought together 3 great musicians to share their expertise ~Karen Tweed, @sturlaeide & Catriona Macdonald. Join us... https://www.scotsmusic.org/day-of-tunes-2/
