Becky learned to play the fiddle at the Edinburgh Youth Gaitherin, Tinto Summer School and Folkworks Summer School, where she had the good fortune to learn from and be inspired by traditional fiddle players from all over Scotland and beyond.
After leaving school, she honed her skills as a fiddle teacher by helping with EYG workshops and teaching fiddle privately. She is now in her third year of teaching fiddle with the Scots Music Group.
When not playing or teaching fiddle, Becky writes short stories, works in mental health advocacy, is a support worker with Lung Ha’s Theatre Company and is a board member at EYG.
She has a particular soft spot for Shetland tunes.
