Malin Lewis
SMG Tutor
Malin Lewis grew up in Skye where they started learning the pipes at the age of 8. Very quickly their interest in Scottish music grew and they began playing the fiddle as well as bellows pipes. Malin’s main interest lies in the instrument itself and as such they began making their own smallpipes at the age of 14.
They currently study piping on the degree course at the Royal Conservatoire in Glasgow, with a particular interest in piobaireachd and older pipe music. Most recently, Malin has been working with Donald Lindsay in making a wooden version of his Lindsay system chanter. Malin is a very enthusiastic teacher and enjoys teaching all levels and ages. They aim to create a relaxed but productive atmosphere in class, aiming to ensure that everyone can get something from them.
