Gillian Chalmers

SMG Tutor

A graduate of the Plockton Centre for Excellence in Traditional Music and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Gillian plays Highland and Border pipes, whistle and fiddle. She toured for several years with the successful young band Bodega, releasing two albums on Greentrax and winning the 2006 BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award.

From Fraserburgh, Gillian has conducted research into the revival of Border pipes and has taught in the past for Glasgow Folk-music Workshop. She is currently a primary teacher of Music & Technology in Edinburgh.
