Andrew Macintyre

SMG Tutor

Andrew Macintyre is originally from the Glasgow area, where he was a pupil of famous piper and composer Duncan Johnstone.  He has been living in Edinburgh for more than 20 years now, where he plays Scottish smallpipes and whistles regularly in pub sessions.  He also plays Border pipes now and then for ceilidhs and step dancing. His Highland piping has been broadcast on BBC radio and television.  He has been teaching pipes and whistle privately and for the Edinburgh Feis for a number of years.

Andrew plays (and sings) in the band “Curmudgeon” who have recently performed at both the Piping Live festival in Glasgow and the Edinburgh Fringe. He won the open solo smallpipes class at the 2017 LBPS competition.
