This class will learn new tunes, forming sets and arrangements, with opportunities to learn by ear as well as from written music. It will include exercises in rhythm and basic theory. Online sessions will feature separate spaces for rehearsing tunes, harmony and accompaniment, as well as our infamous tea break! While working on repertoire which we hope to perform in the community in 2021, we will explore ways of bringing our music together online.

In Term 2 we will be continuing to play tunes from Term 1 as well as working on new material. New students are very welcome to join us – written music and audio files for Term 1 tunes will be available for you.

Suitable for players of intermediate level and above.

Mixed Instrument 3D – Advanced

All instruments welcome. During these Zoom sessions, we will focus on a variety of tunes and look at how to form arrangements from the ground up. Some theory knowledge will be covered during this process: choosing appropriate chords; finding a suitable rhythmic feel; and creating harmony lines. Skills you can hopefully apply to all your other playing! For those who already feel comfortable with their instrument. Tuition will be by ear with written music & recordings provided. While learning remotely, hopefully we can create a recording together of some tunes and I will keep the process as simple as possible.
