Catriona Macdonald

Catriona is a musician, composer and academic who has been at the forefront of Shetland music for many years, most recently performing in the fabulous

Shetland Springs concert during Tradfest online. A pupil of Tom Anderson, she has created a wealth of inspiring music, both with her own band and in collaborations with others, including Annbjørg Lien, Ian Lowthian, Blazin Fiddles and String Sisters. She is the Degree Programme Director for the BA in Folk and Traditional Music at Newcastle University.

Sturle Eide

Sturla Eide is a violinist, composer and teacher from Orkdal in Norway.

He has released 11 albums as a soloist, with the band Flukt and in his duo with Åsmund Svenkerud. He has also collaborated with musicians from many other genres

from pop and rock to country. He has taught at local, national and international workshops and performed at numerous festivals. Sturla has recently published Kattapols, a selection of 8 tunes in a Scandinavian style, arranged for use in group music teaching.

Karen Tweed

Accordionist, composer, teacher and artist Karen Tweed, now a resident of Orkney, has created a wealth of wonderful music in collaboration with top artists from across Europe. A founder member of The Poozies, she went on to play with a host of musicians including SWAP, with Timo Alakotila in their May Monday ensemble and many more. She has taught at numerous workshops and academic courses from Limerick to Helsinki and prefers ink pens to PCs and slippers to stilettos.
