Mixed Instrument 3D – Advanced
All instruments welcome. In this class, we will learn tunes and form arrangements as a group (as much as possible) with an emphasis on the overall ensemble sound. To backup our natural sense of musical style we will look at various theory underpinnings that will assist quick learning and creative arranging. For those who already feel comfortable with their instrument, and are happy to pick up tunes by ear, reinforced with music.
Times: Tuesday at 11.15am -1.15pm at Bruntsfield Evangelical Church
Tutor: Calum Macleod
Groupspace: http://groupspaces.com/SMGMixedInstrument3D/
Mixed Instrument 3E – Advanced
This class is for people who are comfortable playing and/or accompanying tunes and who would like to be part of a performance group. You should be able to play at a reasonable pace, though the emphasis will be on a good solid band sound rather than speed.
The class will work on sets of tunes and their accompaniment with a view to a performance at the end of the year. Much of the material will be taught by ear with recordings and music provided. Students are encouraged to play without music eventually if possible.
Please note that in Terms 2 & 3 this class will continue to work on tunes taught in the previous term/s. Help will be given to students joining the class having not previously attended.
