Scots Music Group runs traditional music and song classes for adults, informal sessions, monthly ceilidhs and other social events.
We are a community-based charity in Edinburgh.

Researchers at Heriot-Watt University are looking for study participants to understand how our experiences of music affect our brain health.

The researchers are interested in hearing from everyone, including those who actively sing or play an instrument, and those who have previous experience but are no longer active. They would also like to include those who have never sang or played an instrument before, as the questionnaire includes a section on listening to music. In this study, you will be asked to complete a short questionnaire about your musical experience, followed by a series of thinking skills tasks using a computer or laptop. The thinking skills tasks cannot be completed on a phone or tablet. You can complete the study from your own home.

To participate in this study, you can access the online questionnaire here . This includes full details of the study including a consent form. The full study should take a maximum of 45 minutes.
