Come and Play together in an impromptu SMG Big Band! All post-beginners welcome. If you haven’t been before, give it a try – there’s no pressure to play absolutely everything, and playing in a big band is a great experience.

Tunes: There may be a little bit of arranging and practising of more difficult bits, but no tunes will be taught note-by-note. There will be some harmony parts for more experienced players to try. Music and recordings will be provided in advance, and be chosen from our Session Tunes books and other SMG sources. A couple of sets will be from the Come & Play 3 list. Cello/bass parts will be available if anyone playing these instruments signs up.

Speed: slow to moderate!

For: post-beginners upwards. Accompanists very welcome. Tunes will be playable on the D whistle (or adapted to fit) and tunes will be suitable for Smallpipes (in A) or adapted to fit. A few tunes may not be suitable for less experienced players, but an alternative part will be given.
