Sarah-Jane Summers

One of the most sought-after fiddle tutors in Scotland, Sarah-Jane loves teaching. She is currently head tutor at, and director of, the traditional music course at the RSAMD Junior Academy and has taught at fiddle camps worldwide.

Originally from Inverness, Sarah-Jane was taught by the late Donald Riddell, who gave her a deep understanding of the old Highland style. Add to this a love of Norwegian music and you get a unique combination described as “lush Highland fiddle music with a Nordic edge” (Cromarty Old Brewery Arts Centre).

Sarah-Jane’s debut solo CD, Nesta, was recently released to great critical acclaim: “exquisitely performed… soaring, sonorous, ringing and richly textured” (fRoots).

As well as playing with her own trio, she is a co-founder of Nu-Nordic band, Fribo, with whom she has played worldwide, including festivals such as WOMAD, Celtic Connections, Korrö...
