Paul Murray
Paul was taught fiddle from the age of 9 at Penicuik High School by Anna Dagg (previously of The Whistlebinkies) and developed his playing throughout his teens as a member of Penicuik Folk Club. He’s now immersed in the Edinburgh and Scottish folk scene as a session player and a member of several ceilidh bands. Paul is committed to encouraging young people to get interested in Folk and Traditional music and is a major player in the Edinburgh Youth Gaitherin, the Edinburgh University Folk Society (Folksoc) and to Tinto Summer School for young folkies. He is also the caller/fiddle player with the epic Off Centre Ceilidh band and loves playing for dancing. Paul also writes websites, fixes computers, teaches Chemistry and generally does everything he can to be useful. He is currently in training at the University of Edinburgh School of Education to be a high school chemistry teacher and will cheerfully relate the four capacities of the Curriculum for Excellence on request.
