Morag Brown

Morag Brown has always lived in Edinburgh, where she teaches fiddle and Suzuki violin, and is studying for a degree in Celtic and Linguistics. Morag is experienced in fiddle styles from the British Isles though is always keen to understand music from other cultures, and enjoys playing Scandinavian, Eastern European and Arabic music.

Morag was taught violin through the Suzuki Method, and began playing traditional music after being inspired at music courses such as Tinto Summer School and Edinburgh Youth Gaitherin. She performs throughout the UK with high-energy Balkan party band, Black Cat, and Middle Eastern ensemble, Dunya, as well as for ceilidhs with Clutching at Straws and as a duo with Finlay Loening.
