Louise Marshall Millington

Louise Marshall Millington:Pipe for Scotland is a piper from Eastriggs, Dumfriesshire. From the age of 9, she accompanied her 2 brothers Sean and Paul, and father, William Marshall (who was the piper at Gretna Green for 44 years until he passed away in 1999), playing the bagpipes entertaining tourists.

Louise composes tunes for the Highland pipes and whistle. She was the founder of Celtic Connections Winner Cantara Celtic Rock Band and have just released their debut album ‘Celtic World’. Cantara comprises Highland Pipes, Whistle, Vocals, Drum Kit, Spanish Guitar, Keyboard, Accordian, Electric and Bass Guitar. Gigs have included touring Northern Italy 2004, -05 and -06, supporting the Afro Celts at Glasgow’s Royal Concert Hall and Ale Moellers World Heritage Orchestra at Glasgow’s Barrowlands in 2004. Cantara played at the Ross Band Stand, Princes Street Gardens, during the Edinburgh International Festival 20002, -03 and -04 and the World Music Festival at Knockengorroch, Dumfriesshire, 2005.

Louise has recently been carrying out high profile piping performances for the Lord Provost of Edinburgh, the Right Honourable Lesley Hinds. These have included piping at the Fair Trade Awards 2006 and piping the Winners of the Scottish Cup, Hearts FC, into the City Chambers and onto their open-top bus during their Civic Reception in May this year. Louise was also piping at the start of the Edinburgh Moonwalk in June this year, along with 8000 power-walkers, dressed in pink tartan, in a bid to raise 1 million pounds for Breast Cancer research in Scotland.

Louise teaches chanter at schools in Lothian and teaches children and adults part-time.
