learning methods and repertoire
The Scots Music Group encourages teaching and learning by ear. If you are new to this method of learning don’t panic. Tutors will teach slowly and will work at a pace suitable to the group. This learning is supported by written text and music. It is highly recommended that you bring a small battery-operated recording device to your class. We have produced three Session Tune Books and CDs of the tunes from Books 1 and 2 that have common tunes that you will hear at our sessions.
instruments
The Scots Music Group does NOT provide instruments and you must bring your own. We sell instruments for some classes, for example, whistles. Some local music shops hire instruments with the option to buy.
who can come
Scots Music Group classes are for anyone aged 16 and over who is interested in music, song and dance.
