Hear some of the recent performers at the Scots Music Group’s Big Seat by the Fire, before a concert with Siobhan Miller and Jeana Leslie followed by Svøbsk from Denmark

Siobhan Miller and Jeana Leslie: Winners of the Radio 2 Young Musican Folk Awards 2008. Jeana hails from Deerness in Orkney and loves going to local ceilidhs. She has many varied influences and is also a keen tune writer. She has played at Orkney Folk Festival both as a soloist and band member. Jeana and Siobhan are in their third year of traditional music course at the RSAMD in Glasgow. Siobhan Miller is a fine young traditional singer from Penicuik. She is an emerging talent on the Scottish folk scene and has appeared with acclaimed band Jock Tamson’s Bairns.

Svøbsk: Maren Hallberg; accordion, Jørgen Dickmeiss; violin, guitar, vocal, Tira Skamby, Percussion – playing a mixture of traditional and contemporary folkmusic. Svøbsk have played in Greenland, Finland, Iceland, Germany and all over Denmark since they started off in 2003. In June 2005 they released the much acclaimed CD debut “Sig mig” / “speak to me”.
