This class will work on arranging sets of tunes which are first learnt by ear (music and recordings provided). There will be opportunities to explore various aspects of arrangement and to perform in the community.
Suitable for players of intermediate level and above.

Ceilidh Caleerie will be continuing to build on their skills and tunes during the 2011/12 season, and to play for dancing in the community. New members are very welcome, but as the level of the class has risen and skills have developed, it is only suitable for new folk who can learn tunes independently and who like a challenge. An ability to read music is very useful, though for those who can pick up tunes well by ear recordings are available.
During the next year Ceilidh Caleerie will be discussing how best to encourage new members, and look at the potential for putting on a ‘beginning to play for dancing’ class for those who prefer to take things more slowly. If you would be interested in joining such a class in the future, please email Steve to note your interest.

We aim to increase people’s confidence in a small & supportive group. At the end of the summer term we will visit a friendly folk club’s singaround session – and you can decide if you want to take the plunge.
As well as being encouraged (but not obliged) to play solo, we will look at (mainly) Scots songs which we can play together. The class is suitable for players with a reasonable standard of playing – you should be able to easily play G, Em, C, D, Am, F chords. Suitable instruments include guitar, concertina, shruti box, fiddle or keyboard for example. If you’re not sure if your instrument is suitable please contact Scott Murray (the tutor of this class).
This class is fun!
