Song - Traditional Song 10.30am
This class is a continuation of the class that started in September 2010. It’s possible for new members to join this class in January.
A lively, fun and friendly group learning great traditional songs. Songs from the Scottish Traveller Tradition, Burns songs, Edinburgh songs, children’s songs…
We also do easy warm-ups, rounds and harmonies, and occasional community performances. Suitable for beginners and experienced singers. No need to read music.
New members welcome.
When can I start? Preferably at the beginning of term. It may be possible to join later in the term if there are spaces left in the class.
This class is for you if you want to:
- build confidence and enjoyment in using your natural voice, in an informal and supportive group
- improve your singing skills
- try out easy games, rounds, improvisation, in a relaxed atmosphere, at a pace that suits you
- learn a variety of great Scottish traditional songs
- sing in the whole group, or try smaller groups or solo if desired; learn a “party piece”
- discuss choice of songs, background to songs, listen to traditional singers on CD, bring in songs to try
- do a short end of term group performance, also class social and singaround and occasional community performances
It may be possible to arrange with the tutor to pay by the week for this class.
