Song - Traditional Singing Group 10am
A lively, fun and friendly group learning great traditional songs. Songs from the Scottish Traveller Tradition, Burns songs, Edinburgh songs, children’s songs…
We also do easy warm-ups, rounds and harmonies, and occasional community performances.
Suitable for beginners and experienced singers, no need to read music, new members welcome.
When can I start? Preferably at the beginning of term. It may be possible to join later in the term if there are spaces left in the class. You can come and pay for a single class to try it out (please note, though, this is not a drop-in class).
This class is for you if you want to:
- build confidence and enjoyment in using your natural voice, in an informal and supportive group
- improve your singing skills
- try out easy games, rounds, improvisation, in a relaxed atmosphere, at a pace that suits you
- learn a variety of great Scottish traditional songs
- sing in the whole group, or try smaller groups or solo if desired; learn a “party piece”
- discuss choice of songs, background to songs, listen to traditional singers on CD, bring in songs to try
- do a short end of term group performance, also class social and singaround and occasional community performances
Payment by the week may be negotiated with the tutor.
