Smallpipes may be available for hire through membership of the Lowland and Borders Pipers’ Society
The Lowland and Smallpipes Society has just refurbished a number of sets of bellows blown
smallpipes in the key of A which now have new bags, chanters and reeds.
These pipes are a great improvement on the “mark one” practice pipes from the LBPS and are available to Scots Music Group students to hire. The cost of hire is £10.00 per month and a condition of hire is that users should become members of LBPS at a sub of £12.00 per annum due on 1st April. The cost of a set of Scottish smallpipes, even second-hand, is several hundred pounds The aim of this hire scheme is therefore to enable people to try them out before investing in a new set of bellows pipes.
